Ahem. Because it must be said, and said often, even before posts of actual context:
BEST.
BOX.
EVER.
And the dub was even better than I remembered it being. Wendee Lee has easily joined my list of the only three people currently in the industry that could take on Haruhi Suzumiya. Hirano Aya will always be Haruhi, no question about it, but Lee gives an excellent performance.
As for the rest, my thoughts stand: Crispin Freeman is EPIC as Kyon, Sheh does Mikuru as no one else can, Ruff matches the original Japanese well and by the end of the disk gets even better in some regards, and Bosch performs admirably. I still need to see more of him, as I did Ruff.
Thoughts on the LJ Scandal of '07 to come.
What's on the Brain Right Now:
Death Note, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Much Ado About Nothing

Term Paper: a Haiku
Page limit is near
yet the notes say I'm not done!
Fate, thou art cru-el!
What? Cruel is two syllables the way I'm saying it.
I don't understand it. I am always short and concise in stories. Scenes sometimes run too short, but never too long. Yet give me a scholarly assignment, and I write on for pages! This should be easier! I could be done right now!
I guess I will just go write more fan fic.

Spring Break!
And lo, it was a time of great joy throughout the land. Children sang, puppies barked, and the clouds floated on warm gentle wind, all in celebration of this most excellent week of rest and relaxation. Well, sort of. I've got a term paper and a buttload of AP Modern Euro work to do, and for once I have to do it during the week. What with the con next weekend, I don't dare leave even the smallest assignment till the last minute. I may just die, and I think after two full days I will be exhausted.
However, one does wonder: why do we even have spring break? Or so many breaks in general? I think the United States currently has the smallest school year in terms of actual days, and it shows. Just look at the national exam results.
Now, I'm not complaining, because I do really want and need the break; but isn't that merely because I'm used to there being a break? Had I grown up in Brazil, my mother's home country, would I need one, having never had much of one?
Aagh. This is why I shouldn't post late at night.

Go, Netflix!
Looks like Netflix, a service that I in my short time of subscription have already come to love, is stepping it up. It's been my go-to place for sampling new titles and re-watching old favorites (70,000 titles! Woot!) because, well, anime isn't cheap. Or easily seen through legal means, although it gets easier all the time.
Actually, this an example.
The site's now going to offer TV and movies that can be played right on the computer. For no additional fee. And the downloading is instant, supposedly. And a ton of the major companies are getting in on the action, and even that little anime channel, The Anime Network.
Now, how awesome is that? About as awesome as this post is useless. I promised, however, and thus I write.

Off to Randomland:
- Two midterms down, only. . .four more left to go. Le sigh. Well, at least AP is out of the way. That test was a killer. The essays were fairly easy, but I should have studied better for the multiple choice.
- I wrote: nothing. Le sigh, again. Maybe I'll write a fan fic after Geometry if I can't get some pages down for my current pilot, Yin-Yang. No, it is not Asian. The title used to be about the concept that it once was, but now isn't. Somehow, I can't let it go though.
- Drama today. That was nerve wrecking. I've never attempted to act, ever. I kept wanting to premeditate every move I made, to look nice and subtle like all my favorites do, but then I'd get nervous and start on my line before someone else.
- Yay, Hugh Laurie for his Golden Globe win! I haven't been too happy with House the show lately, but no one can deny how impeccably he plays whatever he's given. Hats off to you, dear sir.
Later!

Deathnote is Coming!
Two posts in one day! Tis truly a miracle.
Of course, how can I avoid it when the anime adaption of Deathnote premieres in Japan in eight days! I'm fairly new blood when it comes to anime - three years and going, if I count from the first show that I actually recognized as anime - so this is truly the first show that I read the manga first, have been waiting for it to hit, and get to see it do so. It is therefore doubly exciting, as I also have the pleasure of seeing one of my favorite titles, the title that really got me into manga, with the beautiful lush animation Madhouse is oh so good at.
Of course, I have my doubts. Goodness knows they could ruin it. But for once in my life, I am an optimist. Maybe, just maybe, they'll make it better.
As much as I love the manga, it has its flaws. Repetitive dialogue, and sometimes it's just hamfisted at times. It's something that could be dealt with if we get a great script, and an irrational part of me desperately wants to believe that. What little has been seen of the animation certainly seems like Madhouse gave it their all.
I suppose I'll just have to wait and see. Expect me to be giving it my all as I turn every metaphorical rock over in search of a way to see it.
