Deathnote is Coming!

Two posts in one day! Tis truly a miracle.

Of course, how can I avoid it when the anime adaption of Deathnote premieres in Japan in eight days! I'm fairly new blood when it comes to anime - three years and going, if I count from the first show that I actually recognized as anime - so this is truly the first show that I read the manga first, have been waiting for it to hit, and get to see it do so. It is therefore doubly exciting, as I also have the pleasure of seeing one of my favorite titles, the title that really got me into manga, with the beautiful lush animation Madhouse is oh so good at.

Of course, I have my doubts. Goodness knows they could ruin it. But for once in my life, I am an optimist. Maybe, just maybe, they'll make it better.

As much as I love the manga, it has its flaws. Repetitive dialogue, and sometimes it's just hamfisted at times. It's something that could be dealt with if we get a great script, and an irrational part of me desperately wants to believe that. What little has been seen of the animation certainly seems like Madhouse gave it their all.

I suppose I'll just have to wait and see. Expect me to be giving it my all as I turn every metaphorical rock over in search of a way to see it.

It's my friend's blog, AND it doubles as the first post I've made in a long time. It's multifunctional!
